Hydroxylation of 1,8-cineole by Mucor ramannianus and Aspergillus niger
The monoterpenoid 1,8-cineole is obtained from the leaves of Eucalyptus globulus and it has important biological activities. It is a cheap natural substrate because it is a by-product of the Eucalyptus cultivation for wood and pulp production. In this study, it was evaluated the potential of three filamentous fungi in the biotransformation of 1,8-cineole. The study was divided in two steps: fir...
متن کاملMicrobial transformations of 6- and 7-methoxyflavones in Aspergillus niger and Penicillium chermesinum cultures.
A detailed study of the biotransformation of 6- and 7-methoxyflavones by four fungal strains (Aspergillus niger strains MB, KB, and SBP; Penicillium chermesinum 113) was carried out. Products of demethylation and also demethylation combined with hydroxylation at C-4' were identified. The biotransformation products were stronger antioxidants than the substrates.
متن کاملHeterogeneity of Aspergillus niger microcolonies in liquid shaken cultures.
The fungus Aspergillus niger forms (sub)millimeter microcolonies within a liquid shaken culture. Here, we show that such microcolonies are heterogeneous with respect to size and gene expression. Microcolonies of strains expressing green fluorescent protein (GFP) from the promoter of the glucoamlyase gene glaA or the ferulic acid esterase gene faeA were sorted on the basis of diameter and fluore...
متن کاملMicrobial biotransformation of beclomethasone dipropionate by Aspergillus niger
In the present research, the steroidal anti-asthmatic drug beclomethasone dipropionate was subjected to microbial biotransformation by Aspergillus niger. Beclomethasone dipropionate was transformed into various metabolites first time from microbial transformation. New drug metabolites produced can act as new potential drug molecules and can replace the old drugs in terms of safety, efficacy, an...
متن کاملGlycosidases of Aspergillus niger
A highly purified preparation of 1,2-oc-L-fucosidase, free of /3-galactosidase and P-N-acetylglucosaminidase activities, has been obtained from a commercial preparation of Aspergillus niger by a simple isolation procedure involving ammonium sulfate precipitation, pressure dialysis, repeated gel Cltration on Sephadex G-150, and chromatography on diethylaminoethyl Sephadex A-50. The enzyme has a ...
